In the year 2011-12 psychological assessment (including Psychodiagnostic assessment, IQ assessment, cognitive assessment, fitness assessment) and workup was done for 2824 patients and 5898 sessions of psychological and Psychosocial management (including individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy sessions) was done. Group meetings are conducted in each ward on every working day.
The department has 12 seats in M.Phil and 4 in Ph.D courses in Clinical Psychology. Training is provided to visiting students of M.Phil in Clinical Psychology, students of diploma courses and postgraduate students. Faculty members are involved in clinical, teaching, research, rural community mental health program and urban school mental health programs. Family reconciliation services are provided to couples at Jharkhand court. This department is equipped with modern Neuropsychological test materials and Bio feedback machines. Faculty members and students are actively involved in psychological assessment and psychological management of patients. Yoga and Meditation sessions for patients are conduced. Students are actively involved in Community Outreach Programmes. Faculty members of the Deptt. are also visiting/guest faculty, member of committee for course and studies, subject expert and external examiners in different Institutions/Organization/University. The official Journal of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists and Journal of Projective Psychology & Mental Health are being published by the Deptt. The faculty members are in the editorial board of various national and international Journals. Faculty member is Hon. Gen. Secretary of the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists. Senior Faculty member is also nominated as RCI Inspector, New Delhi. Faculty-in-charge of the Saksham Project of GFATM- Round 7. Capacity Building- Counselling component.
