Progress of Computerization of RINPAS during the period under review is mentioned below:
For computerization of RINPAS, following targets were decided:
1. Procurement of hardware
2. Local Area Networking (LAN)
3. Development/procurement of software
4. Internet facility
Progress is mentioned as below:
Procurement of Hardware:
A total of 2 servers, 31 PCs, 7 Dotmatrix printers, 6 Laserjet A4 mono printers, one Laserjet A3 colour printer, 4 Inkjet printers have been purchased for different section of RINPAS, namely, medical library, OPD, account section, establishment section, stores, occupational therapy unit, computer section, administration and academic sections.
Local Area Networking (LAN):
LAN connection is complete in the Administrative Block covering Accounts, Establishment, OPD, Computer Cell and in Medical library. Work is in progress to include few other units into LAN.
Development/procurement of software:
Microsoft Office, Leap Office, Pagemaker, and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS, software for statistical analysis of data) have been purchased.
The project for development or procurement of software for different sections of RINPAS has been assigned to NIC, Ranchi. Development or procurement of software was planed for library, OPD (registration and medicine distribution), accounts section, establishment section, and inventory management for stores.
Progress in work is as follows:
For Library e-Granthalaya software has been taken from NIC. The software is being used in the Central Library for making data base of available books. After completion of data base computerized issue and return system of books may be implemented in the Central Library. The Data Entry Operator posted in Central Library had attended the workshop on “Implementation and Use of Library Applications Software (e-Granthalaya/News NIC)” conducted by National Informatics Centre at Delhi w.e.f 9 to 13 September 2006.
For computerization of OPD, software is developed for registration and discharge detail, and inventory for medicine store (OPD). Now the software for hospital laboratory and medical store is being developed.
Broadband multi-user Internet connection facility is available in the Central Library.
